Local Government

Wisconsin Housing Works to build strong communities.

Having a full-time job in your community does not necessarily mean that a family can afford to live there.  Unfortunately, this is the case for many working families in Wisconsin.  Limited access to affordable housing where people work leads to long commutes and consumers leaving your local main streets to spend their money in another community.

Designing and implementing an employer assisted housing program through the Wisconsin Housing Works initiative helps your local employers reduce employee recruitment and retention costs while improving the quality of life for your residents.

Investing in Your Community

Your community’s employers can provide great resources by bringing real estate and housing partners to the table to provide down payment and closing costs assistance to their employees. As a local government you may be able to match or leverage their investment with additional resources. » Investing in Your Community

Resources for Buyers

Local housing counseling agencies administer local, state and federal forms of down payment and closing cost funds. Each of the funding sources has their own guidelines and eligibility requirements.  Many of the various funding sources can be layered together to make the most efficient housing transaction for the home buyer. » Resources for Buyers
